Invite a Friend

Invite someone to LetThemChat or LetThemBuild. If they join through your link and later buy a Pro or Team plan of their own, you get $5 of credit and they get $5, paid once the purchase is 14 days old. Signing up is free and earns nobody anything. This page is the fine print — what counts, what does not, and where the limits are.

Who can invite

Anyone with an account, on any plan, including the free one. Your invite link and your invitations are under Invite a friend in the account menu on the web, the account menu on the Mac, and Settings on the iPhone. The same link works wherever you paste it; the dialog can also mail it for you, with your address as the reply-to so your friend can answer you.

Who qualifies

A brand-new account that signs in for the first time through your link, and that later buys its own Pro or Team plan — a subscription it is the owner of. The link sets a cookie that lasts thirty days, so it still counts if they open it today and sign up next week, from the same browser. The dialog shows each friend as Invited, Joined, or Credited, and, once they have bought a plan, the day the credit is due.

What does not qualify

• Signing up on the Free plan. Joining ties the account to you and earns nothing by itself.
• Finishing a discussion, however many.
• Buying credit. A top-up is not a plan.
• Being invited into somebody else’s team. The plan must be your friend’s own purchase.
• A complimentary plan we grant, which nobody paid for.
• Inviting yourself, or an address you control.
• Anyone who already has an account. The link only ties a brand-new account to you.
• The same person twice. An account is tied once, to the first code it signed in with.

When it is paid

14 days after your friend’s plan purchase, provided the purchase still stands: it has not been refunded, in whole or in part, or charged back, and the plan has not been ended by a refund. A purchase that is paid back inside those 14 days earns nothing, ever; if your friend later buys a plan again and keeps it, that purchase can qualify once. The credit lands in both balances on its own the next time either of you opens the app. Once paid, it is not taken back.

How much

$5 of credit for you and $5 for your friend, per qualifying friend, paid at the same time. Neither side is paid without the other.

Limits

20 credited friends in any rolling 365 days, so $100 a year is the most one account can earn. Past the 20th, friends can still join through your link and buy plans; neither side is credited for them. There is no limit on how many people you can invite.

About the credit

Referral credit spends on our keys — the models the app runs on your behalf when you are not bringing your own — exactly like purchased credit, and it does not expire. It has no cash value: it cannot be withdrawn, transferred to another account, or refunded, and it is worth nothing outside the product. Where a plan already includes monthly credit, that is spent first and this waits.

Abuse

Credit obtained by gaming the program — inviting yourself, duplicate or throwaway accounts, purchases made to be refunded, or anything that looks like one person many times over — may be withheld or removed from both sides, and the accounts involved may be closed.

Changes, and friends who joined before September 30, 2026

Until this date a friend was credited on joining and you were credited when they finished a first discussion. Credit already granted under that rule stays in the balance it was paid to. From this date every friend, including those who joined earlier, earns credit under the rule on this page: when they buy a Pro or Team plan. We may change the amounts, the limits, or the rules, or end the program, for the future at any time, with notice on this page; credit already in your balance stays yours.
