Invite a friend
Invite someone to LetThemChat or LetThemBuild and you both get credit: $5 for them when they join through your link, and $5 for you when they finish their first discussion. This page is the fine print — what counts, what does not, and where the limits are.
Who can invite
Anyone with an account, on any plan, including the free one. Your invite link and your invitations are under Invite a friend in the account menu on the web, the account menu on the Mac, and Settings on the iPhone. The same link works wherever you paste it; the dialog can also mail it for you, with your address as the reply-to so your friend can answer you.
What your friend gets, and when
$5 of credit, the moment they first sign in through your link. That is on top of the welcome credit every new account gets. The link sets a cookie that lasts thirty days, so it still counts if they open it today and sign up next week — from the same browser.
What you get, and when
$5 of credit when your friend finishes their first discussion — one that runs to an answer, on the web, the iPhone, or the Mac. Not when they sign up: a sign-up costs nothing, and a finished discussion is the thing the product is for. The credit lands in your balance on its own; the dialog shows each friend as Invited, Joined, or Credited.
Limits
Twenty credited friends in any rolling 365 days, so $100 a year is the most one account can earn. Friends beyond the twentieth still get their own $5; your credit for them is not paid. There is no limit on how many people you can invite.
What does not count
- Inviting yourself, or an address you control.
- Anyone who already has an account. The link only ties a brand-new account to you.
- The same person twice. An account is credited once, to the first code it signed in with.
- Accounts made to farm credit — throwaway addresses, sign-ups that never run a real discussion, or anything that looks like one person many times over. We check, and we may reverse credit on both sides, and close the accounts involved.
About the credit
Referral credit spends on our keys — the models the app runs on your behalf when you are not bringing your own — exactly like purchased credit, and it does not expire. It is not cash: it cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or refunded, and it has no value outside the product. Where a plan already includes monthly credit, that is spent first and this waits.
Changes
We may change the amounts, the limits, or the rules, or end the program, at any time. Credit already in your balance stays yours. Changes apply to invitations from the moment they are made, and this page is where the current rules live.
